Even though this may sound like a cliche, first, always remember to breathe! Breathe slowly and intentionally and do what you can to mentally slow down your mind, your thoughts and get present. This is our mind wrecking havoc. It’s unconscious behavior. Once you catch yourself (become conscious), focus on your breath. Close your eyes. Breathe and accept the present moment. Maybe find something else to focus on. Gaze upon a flower, a tree or an animal - not a device! What comes next is up to the individual. We all have different coping mechanisms or tools to transport us to a safer and more positive place. We encourage you to find methods that speak to you.
