The Root of Being

The Root of Being

Located at the base of the spine and ruled by Earth, the Root Chakra is your foundation; connection to body, place, and support. When balanced, breath deepens, boundaries clarify, and a quiet steadiness returns. When stagnant or excessive, fear, restlessness, rigidity, or material fixation can unsettle the whole system.

This ritual invites you to replant your energy, to steady the nervous system, restore trust in the ground beneath you, and come home to your body. Through breath, contact, visualization, and scent, you’ll root attention downward and rebuild from center.

Practice at the start of any new cycle, or anytime you need to land.

Enter with honesty. Leave with stability, clarity, and calm.

You will need:

  • A red or black candle (protection, vitality)
  • Grounding Divine Scent or another sacred oil for anointing
  • Smoky Quartz, Hematite or Black Tourmaline
  • Paper & Pen
  • A small bowl of salt or soil
  • A glass of Water

Begin:

Prepare & Posture

Place the bowl of salt/soil before you; light the candle. Sit with both feet flat (or kneel with shins grounded). Rest palms on thighs; soften jaw and shoulders.

Rooted Breath

Inhale for 4 into the low belly; exhale for 6 through the mouth, let weight drop into seat, legs, and feet. Repeat 9 cycles to settle the nervous system.

Anoint and Arrive

Apply Grounding Divine Scent to the soles of the feet, base of the spine (tailbone area), and wrists. Inhale slowly. Welcome steadiness and safety.

Grow the Roots

Visualize deep red roots extending from your spine, legs, and feet into Earth, through soil and stone to bedrock. With each exhale, send tension down; with each inhale, receive quiet strength rising up.

Sound the Mantra

Chant LAM (lahm) 9 times, feeling vibration in pelvis, legs, and feet. Let the body grow heavier, supported.

Name Your Foundations

On paper, write:
One boundarythat protects your energy .
“One daily practicethe nourishes your body (sleep, movement, food, rest)

Read them aloud once, steady and clear.

Touch the Earth

Press fingertips into the salt/soil.

Whisper: “The Earth supports me and meets my needs.”

Feel texture and weight; let sensation anchor you here.

Seal:

Affirm:

“It is safe for me to be here. I am here, and I am real.”

Take a sip of water. Extinguish the candle with gratitude.

May this rite root you in steadiness; body at ease, boundaries clear, and the Earth beneath you, always.
