Mother of the oceans, protector of the seas --Oh how I love Yoruba Orisha (deity) YEMAYA! She represents a force of nature that can be wild and imposing or tender, sensual and nurturing. Her children are water creatures such as fish, dolphins, whales, turtles, and seals, all who embody her movement and flow. More importantly, Yemaya is a powerful aid for purification, called upon for healing, a representation of the divine feminine and a patron to pregnant women.
I was first introduced to her on New Year’s Eve in 1990, the night I arrived at Copacabana Beach, where women dressed in white handed me flowers to give as an offering to this ocean Goddess. I was captivated and now she stays in my heart always. This month I had the honor to make a magikal oceanic potion in her honor just for YOU!
Here Salty Seaweed is married to voluptuous Jasmine and intoxicating Violet, while a sacred resin is an anchor for this ocean-inspired scent.
