Healing with the Power of Rose Medicine

How to Deal with Grief and the Loss of a Loved One

As Memorial Day approaches, it is a fitting time to discuss grief and how we can heal from the loss of relationships. We all know how it feels to lose a relationship with someone we care about. Unfortunately, loss is a part of life. People and pets we love must leave this Earthly plane to move on to what is next. Sometimes the loss is a marriage, partnership, or relationship that didn’t quite work out the way we wanted it to. So whether the loss we experience is through death or the end of a relationship, the grief we feel during each of these circumstances can manifest in similar ways.

It’s important to remember for yourself and for others, that grief and healing will look different for every person. A breakup can feel just as devastating as the loss of a life. Essentially, if that breakup results in the loss of a relationship it can feel like a death has occurred. Therefore, grieving is a time to be easy on yourself and easy on others.

The stages of grief are described as denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. This is not the final word on grief and doesn’t mean that people will grieve in this particular order or go through all of these stages. Many people, or even you, may find particular phases of grief familiar. Understanding all of the steps of grief and it’s stages are an essential part of the healing journey.

In order to properly heal, we must grieve. The more we push aside or bury the emotions that come from loss, the more it will push back. It’s important to process all of the feelings and work through them in order to move forward. Most of the time this is a necessary process and critical in order to get to a place of healing.

The Benefits of Rose Medicine

The Rose is one of the most powerful and potent plants available to us. Most people are familiar with roses and associate them as a symbol of romantic love. Many love the scent of roses and plant gardens full of many varieties. Roses can also be extremely beneficial medicinally and energetically to those in the process of healing from loss. The Rose and its high vibrational essential oil carries incredible properties that reduce anxiety, stress, and worry; opening the heart to compassion, forgiveness, and the flow of love.

If you are dealing with the loss of a loved one, you may benefit from a ritual with Rose Medicine. Rose Medicine can be extremely powerful in helping you heal from grief, loss, and heartache. Many times with the loss of a relationship, we want to fix or focus on the other person. Though we should really look within and focus on healing our own heart.

Here we have put together some ways to use Rose Medicine in grief healing rituals that you can start today.

Healing Rituals with Rose Medicine

  • Using Rose Essential Oils in your daily practice to aid in your healing process is important. Rose is known as the Queen of the Floral Oils. Its exotic nature and value were venerated in ancient times by the Greeks, Chinese, Indians, Persians and Romans.Rose Absolute can help relieve stress and has aphrodisiac properties. When diffused, it fills the room with a bouquet of roses. PreciousRose Otto lifts burdens and relieves anxiety. It is also quite nourishing to sensitive or maturing skin when diluted for skin care application.
  • Preparing a cup ofRose Tea is an ideal way to utilize the power of Rose Medicine. The act of getting a cup of tea together is a ritual in itself. Make your cup of Rose Tea and sit somewhere quiet and comfortable to set your healing intentions.
  • Sometimes, we are not quite ready to heal our hearts and it is easier to try and let go. Letting Go Anointing Oil is a gentle essential oil blend that assists in letting go of pain, shame, guilt, anger, and blame. Letting Go can free us from that which no longer serves us and removes unwanted obstacles from our path. This blend includes soothing Bulgarian Rose Otto with rich, grounding wood notes and a touch of Patchouli.
  • Healing of the Heart Anointing Oil is a superb blend to aid in your healing process. This powerful formula is a supportive tool for times of grief, loss, pain and sadness. Sometimes after a difficult event we close off our hearts, which can trap negative emotions. Precious Rose Otto helps open the heart again to release these feelings and heal emotional wounds. This healing blend consists of soothing Bulgarian Rose Otto and French Lavender.
  • Quan Yin is the Goddess of mercy, compassion and loving kindness. Heavenly Rose Otto evokes the vibration of the divine feminine and re-instills faith, while Sandalwood and Vanilla encourage forgiveness and help you live in the present.Quan Yin Sacred Perfume is meant to inspire kindness and forgiveness.
  • Rose Petal Hydrosol can be used directly on the skin as a facial toner to help restore balance and maintain hydration, but you can also use this Rose Petal Hydrosol as an energy shifting mist. Spray it around your head and all over your body. Inhale and allow the scent of Rose to lift your spirit and alleviate your grief.
  • Rose Quartz is a gemstone that is essential for self-care and wonderful for amplifying self-love, healing, and forgiveness. Rose Quartz comes in many different forms; tumbled stones, raw chunks, and jewelry. Simply meditating with a piece of Rose Quartz in your hand is powerful and can be of great assistance. Keep a piece with you at all times and hold it when you feel like you need it.
  • You might also draw yourself a healing Rose bath. Sprinkle Rose petals, Rose Tea, or Rose Essential Oil in the warm water. Then immerse yourself and allow the power of the Rose to heal not only your heart, but nourish your body and skin as well. A couple of decades ago a friend of  Kate’s shared this powerful recipe for The Ultimate Healing + Self-Love Rose Bath which consists of:
    • Fill the bath with warm water
    • Add fresh Rose Petals
    • Pour in 2-4 cans of unsweetened condensed milk
    • Sprinkle a dash of your choice of Rose Essential Oil or Anointing Oil
  • A mediation focused on the Rose can also be a powerful tool to aid in your healing process. Kate’s personal Rose Meditation goes like this:
    1. Sit in a peaceful place.
    2. Make a cup of rose tea and anoint yourself with Healing of the Heart, Quan Yin or Rose Otto essential oil. Inhale the scent of the Rose.
    3. Visualize a giant, beautiful rose levitating above you.
    4. Upload all of your feelings of grief, worry, and anxiety into the rose.
    5. Once these feelings are absorbed into the rose, visualize it drifting away and taking all of your worries with it.
    6. Watch as it gets farther and farther away from you, until it ultimately dissolves into midair.

As you progress in your healing process, no matter your situation or circumstance, Rose Medicine can help you on your path to reformation and joy. View the Rose Medicine Collection for a complete list of Kate's Magik Rose Aromatherapy & Essential Oil products.

Thank you for this lovely info. I lost my dog a couple of days ago and was looking for something to help with the sorrow I feel at her loss and to help guide her and her pack as she crosses the rainbow bridge.
