Egyptian Geranium Essential Oil can calm irritability, anxiety and ease frustration, it will help relax the mind and can ease cases of insomnia. It is also a strong pick me up, very energizing, particularly where there is exhaustion due to overwork and stress. The strong smell of this oil can also be effective in warding off mosquitoes and head lice.

Egyptian Geranium Essential Oil has a scent that is both sweet and herbaceous, while carrying some subtle notes similar in character to Rose.

History/Lore:

There are over 200 species of geranium, some scented and some not. The plants originated from South Africa as well as Reunion, Madagascar, Egypt and Morocco. They were introduced to European countries such as Italy, Spain and France in the 17th century. In early times geraniums were planted around the house to help keep evil spirits at bay.

Cautions:

Geranium Essential Oil is non-toxic, non-irritant and generally non-sensitizing. It can cause sensitivity in some people and due to the fact that it balances the hormonal system, it should be avoided during pregnancy.
